The highly anticipated Toy Story 4 is coming to cinemas this week and from what the stars of the film have been saying, we can expect it to be a very emotional film. Here is everything to know about the making of Toy Story 4.

Directed by Josh Cooley who has also worked on ‘Inside Out’ and ‘Up’.
The film is rated ‘U’.
It was filmed in the Pixar Animation Studios in California.
Released in the UK on the 21st June.
The film is 1 hour and 40 minutes. This is the second Pixar film to run this length after ‘Finding Nemo’.
In November 2018, Tom Hanks said that the ending to the film was difficult to film and that he couldn’t face the crew as he got too emotional. Tim Allen had said the same thing about a month before.
John Lasseter said that Pixar would only make a 4th film if it was good enough to ensure that it lived up to the previous films.
Tim Allen had already signed up for a fourth film before it was announced.
The actor who voices Mr Potato Head (Don Rickles) died in 2017 meaning that it was not possible for him to record for a part. The family of Rickles asked if there was any way that previous recordings could be used to ensure his character was still in the film and that is exactly what Pizar did.
The film is being released 24 years after the first film, 20 years after the second and 9 years after the third.
‘Toy Story 4’ has had the longest production cycle out of all of the films.
The music for this film and the previous films were composed by Randy Newman.
This is Keanu Reeves’ first Disney film.
Tom Hanks was not allowed to talk about the film until it was officially announced because Disney was worried this would influence the stock market value of Disney.
The film will be revealing some new characters and Tom Hanks favourite one is ‘Forky’. He said “I have to say, FOrky doesn’t make any sense whatsoever but he certainly is hilarious.”
This is Pixar’s final film of the 2010’s.
‘Toy Story 4’ is one of three films that was meant to be released in 2017 but then got pushed back to 2018 and then finally to 2019. The other two films are, ‘How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World’, and ‘The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.”
All four films were released in the gap that has been between the ‘The Lion King’ and its remake.
This is the fifth film by Pixar to change its Director whilst being in production. It also is the fifth time Pixar has had a film that went through script changes whilst being in production.
It seems that ‘Toy Story 4’ will break the trend of having an animated short before the film. Starting in 1998 with ‘A Bug’s Life’, Pixar have shown a short animation before all of its films. Until now.
