For anyone aspiring to work in production, what better way to find out exactly what you could be signing up for by getting to know what we do day to day? Each week, we will follow one of the team as they explain a day in their life. This week we got to know a bit more about what I (Katie Dickinson) get up to as Social Media Manager. Before work (06:45-9:30)
Before work, there is the usual routine of turning off my alarm for about the ninth time before I finally get up. Then I get ready for the day and make sure that I have everything packed. Normally, I have written a list of what I need to do the day before, so I check this before I leave and then head off to the train station

While I walk to the station, I like to think about the day ahead and think about my plan of action. I get the train in to London which takes about 30 minutes. I use this time to read a book, or read the newspaper. Sometimes, my sister is on the same train as me, so I get to catch up with her. I normally get in to the office just after 9am (depending on delays) and I set up. Before work, I will usually go through any important emails and then have a browse of the newspapers online.
During work (9:30-17:30)
Every day is different, as each day there is something new to be doing. There are the usual routines of checking our engagement with our followers, or I am answering calls to the office and passing them on to the relevant people. I also work on the blog page each week and create content that can be posted. I update our social media platforms with fun information about the company. Then I can be working on behalf of our charity Genisys, and finding opportunities for interns to come in and gain experience. Alternatively, I can be doing some admin stuff for the office such as organsing building passes or looking in to new equipment.
As part of my role, I have been allowed to get involved in the development side of production as well. Recently, I have been working on a project that we will be filming a taster tape for this week! It has really opened my eyes to the mechanics of creating a show and trying to balance every factor that is involved. It has been a lot of work, and I have really really enjoyed bringing it all together with the help of Duncan who is the head of development at WWP. A lot of research has been involved in making this project and it has allowed me to speak to a range of experts and individuals that I otherwise would never have met.
After work (17:30-23:00)
It really depends on the day. I try and see my friends and family as much as I can, so I arrange to meet with them after work. I’m very lucky as a lot of my friends also work in London so it is easy to meet up. If I am not seeing friends or family, I am relaxing at home. I watch TV or read a book, or just work on some projects that I have planned for the company’s website.
