November 2019 for WWP has seen a new production air, two birthdays, two talks and much more! This month is also the calm before the storm as we all are beginning to gear up to christmas. So I’ll just jump straight back in to what has happened this month.
News
If you have not been across our website or social media where HAVE you been? Saving Our Beautiful Bali was aired on CBBC this month. If you haven’t seen it, you can still watch it on iPlayer. The programme is about Isabel who along with her sister campaigned successfully to ban single use plastic in Bali where they live. We have already shared a lot of behind the scenes images so have a look at our social media (links at the bottom of the page). Uniquely, the show even included a photo taken from space. You can read how it
was done here.
It was really cool to see that The Week Junior featured Saving Our Beautiful Bali as one of their suggested programmes to watch!
In other news, Wilson Worldwide Productions were named Diversity and Inclusion Champions 2019 at the Growing Business Awards! We were all really proud to have won, especially because these values are so close to our company’s values. Additionally, the judges commented saying “Wilson Worldwide is striking a balance between growing a successful business and tackling important issues around inclusion and community collaboration. Its diverse team really values differences in perspective.”
Events
We all love a podcast, especially a comedy podcast, so what better way to spend your commute home, or your evening meal cooking than listening to Josh have a chin wag on Steve Whiteley’s podcast called Balancing Acts. The podcast is about talking to those in our industry about a healthy work life balance and advise and we thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. It was interesting to listen to how the pair met.
Here is a little behind the scenes of when they were making the podcast.
It was not only Josh in a podcast this month, but also Stuart was part of Healthy For Men’s podcast talking about his fitness journey.
Josh and Stuart attended the BAFTA Breakthrough Brits evening in London to celebrate the stars of 2019. Josh went last year to celebrate and so was exciting to be back this year. Some of the names included on the list were Vicky Knight, Chance Perdomo and Coco Jackson.
November 2019 saw the return or Media Fight Night which raises money for the charity In Your Corner which helps children and adults at risk or under referral to mental health services providing structure and non contact boxing programmes. The event sees media industry professionals step into the ring to raise money for the charity. Josh attended the event again this year, but we want to know when will Josh be stepping into the ring…?
We also returned to City and Islington College this month to talk to the new students who want to be a part of the media industry. Thanks to the work of Victoria we always love visiting here and chatting with the next generation of creators!
The Black Ascent hosted by the London School of Economics and Imperial College invited Josh to be part of their panel discussion about entrepreneurship. Additionally, Josh was joined by Mark Maciver aka SliderCuts.
In the office
Duncan and Susan both had their birthdays this month. As Susan was in the office for her birthday a team lunch was in order. We also had the first office trip to the Christmas market in Southbank.
Travel
Josh had a quick trip to Hamburg this month as he was invited to talk at the Forbes summit there. He was joined by Alex Wood and Sergi Naños Lara where they discussed being fuelled by passion and many other things. Excitingly Josh has been asked to speak in Berlin next month as well so look out for the news on that!
Chloe headed to the Lake District this month for a script writing course. I am sure I am not the only one who has got some serious envy over the views she saw.
Well that is everything we got up to in November 2019, I am sure you can agree that was a pretty packed month! This time next month we will have had Christmas and we will be one day away from 2020!
