Everything you need to know about Stranger Things

Stranger Things is back and a week of binge watching it has commenced. Now on its third season, there is so much that happens that viewers may not even realise its connection. In front of our screens and behind, we have become obsessed with the storyline and those who are in it. Here is everything you need to know about Stranger Things.

Created by Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer.

It is primarily filmed in Georgia USA.

Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin, was the first actor to be cast in the show.

When auditioning, Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike did so from his bed as he was sick.

David Harbour’s trailer cost the art department $1 to buy.

In the series Nancy and Jonathan start dating. In real life, Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton who play these characters date as well.

The original series directors believe there will be a fourth series but then that will be it. Saying, “We’re thinking it will be a four -season thing and then out.”

One time Millie Bobby Brown came to set covered head to toe in glitter. The show creators said that the removal of the glitter delayed the shooting schedule by 45 minutes that day.

The Duffer brothers wanted to direct the remake of Stephen King’s ‘It’ movie but were turned down. Having said that in Stranger Things there are many references to Stephen Kings work. Such as the state trooper guarding the morgue is reading “Cujo” which is by Stephen King. The series logo is also similar to the 1980’s editions of Stepehn King’s novels.

During the fight scene between Charlie Heaton and Joe Keery. Keery was actually punched in the face twice!

There are several references to “The Lord of the Rings’ across the series.

Auditioning for season 3 was hard according to Francesca Reale as she said that she didn’t even get the script. Instead she was given lines to read from the movie ‘Scream’.

Another new character this season is Robin played by Maya Hawke, who works alongside Steve at the ice-cream store.

There will be a crossover with Stranger Things and Fornite.

When developing the show, the Duffer brothers looked into the weird experiments they had read that happened during the Cold War such as Project MKUltra.

The first episode of Stranger Things premiered on July 15th 2016. The second series premiered on October 27 2017 and the third season premiered on 4th July 2019.

The series has received 31 Emmy Award nominations, 4 Golden Globe Award nominations and won the SCreen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama series.
