Godzilla: King of the monsters arrives in cinemas today, and with it comes a whole load of action, adventure and Sci-Fi. If you liked the 2014 film, this was is said to be even better so get ready! Here is everything you need to know.

About the film

The Director was Michael Dougherty who has also worked on ‘X- Men’ and ‘Superman Returns’.

The movie is rated a 12A and has a runtime of 2 hours 11 minutes.

The movie stars Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga and Millie Bobby Brown. Chandler has a long history of movies some of them being ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’, ‘Super 8’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. Farmiga has worked on ‘Up in the Air’, ‘Bates Motel’, and ‘Orphan’. Millie Bobby Brown is best known for her role in ‘Stranger Things’ playing ‘Eleven’.

It was filmed in Mexico and Atlanta, Georgia.

Charles Dance is also featured in the movie, he is also known for his role as Tywin Lannister in ‘Game of Thrones’.

This is the first American production of Godzilla to do a sequel.

The music used in the trailer is Debussy’s ‘Clair de lune’.

It is the first film Millie Bobby Brown has been in.

The film’s release date has had a number of push backs. It was supposed to be released in 2018 then it was pushed back to March 2019, but to avoid competition from ‘Captain Marvel’, they pushed it back to May 2019.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen were in the 2014 version of Godzilla. They were unable to be a part of this film due to other filming commitments.

Gareth Edwards was set to direct the film originally, but later dropped out.

Godzilla has had a bit of a redesign to match more original descriptions of it. Godzilla now has different shaped dorsal fins and look more like maple leaves.

Mortha was designed to look like a real moth and was given longer legs.

Godzilla stands at 393 feet.

This film had a huge budget compared to the 2014 film. This version was made with a budget of $200 million whereas the 2014 was made with $160 million.

Bear McCreary is composing the film’s score. McCreary stated, “I am thrilled to be the composer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and honored beyond words to have the opportunity to contribute to one of cinema’s longest-running musical legacies.”

Godzilla is the only monster that has been confirmed that can’t fly.

Due to Godzilla being able to breathe with both gills and lungs, Godzilla is considered more of an amphibian than that of a true reptile.

It is confirmed that there are 17 monsters present in the world.
