Josh Wilson: Who is Wilson Worldwide?

The ‘Who is Wilson Worldwide?’ series is a way of letting you get to know exactly who we are, whether you are a follower of what we do, someone looking to get to know a bit more about the industry, or just someone who happened to stumble upon us. The company is small in number but has a huge passion for creating the best possible content for your TV, and over the next few weeks you will get to know the people behind the ideas, when we ask them a little bit about themselves.

We start with the main man himself, one of those listed on the Forbes 30 under 30 for entertainment 2018, Josh Wilson. Known outside the office for his passion for diversity and inclusivity and known by us for his incredible work ethic and infectious laugh, we asked him to let us know a bit more about himself.

What is your job description/ what are your responsibilities?

Making things happen.

How long have you worked here?

Five years and Seven months

What were you doing before you worked here?

I was first in sales and marketing and then I became a journalist at KFTV and The Knowledge which are now both part of MBI who own Broadcast and Screen.

What is the best thing about your job?

I enjoy the unpredictability. The uncertainty. When it gets tough. My role is to make sure those tough things go smoothly so everyone can do their job. To see the delight on peoples faces when we win a project and they get to work in an industry, and on something they love, is priceless. I also run a charity called Genisys which is very close to WWP and to ultimately spend my life helping and entertaining people is a dream come true.

What is your favourite project that you have worked on?

It would have to be Mission Mudder. It was our first major project and we had to jump through so many hoops to make it happen, there was just so much adversity, but we got through it and made the series a success. It’ll always hold a place close to my heart.

What made you want to work in TV production?

It’s fun. I like all aspects of it. Deciding to work with positive people we can select is perfect as I believe iron sharpens iron and I like the visage and possibilities that stem from the industry.

For anyone wanting to work in TV production what advice would you give them?

Don’t be afraid to learn and ask people for help. Also, don’t believe you can’t work in this industry because you don’t think you belong. You do, if you want it bad enough.

Any hobbies outside of work?

Travel is a true pastime of mine. I am also fortunate to be able to travel a lot through work for location shoots which are always great! I’ve also been involved in combat in
