Josh Wilson was featured in Broadcast discussing diversity in the media industry and how improvement is still necessary. This is part of Broadcast’s special issue themed around issues of diversity that was guest edited by Sir Lenny Henry.
Part of Josh’s argument was to say “This is a narrow-minded way of thinking,” he said. “I consistently hear the term ‘training schemes’ when it comes to diverse individuals. Of course, training is important for everyone in the industry, but it shouldn’t be used as a reason to keep the door shut – as if what we do is rocket-science.”
The article discusses how production companies believe improvement has been made more on screen then off screen which has been proven by statistics.
